Dr. Artaj Singh Appointed Chair Of Health Partners International

In the first few weeks in his new position as Chair of Health Partners International of Canada, Dr. Artaj Singh was in Zimbabwe visiting HPIC project partners.

“We met with the Zimbabwe Association of Church-related Hospitals to see how we could better serve their network of 125 hospitals and clinics across the country,” Dr. Singh said, adding “we also met with a key partner in the publication of an updated Neonatal Handbook by Zimbabwean university pediatricians to facilitate better mother and child care.”

HPIC has a few different projects in the struggling African nation, including two Pharmaceutical Management projects with The Salvation Army.

Dr. Singh first met HPIC, a relief and development organization dedicated to increasing access to medicine and improving health in the developing world, when he began doing medical missions in Mozambique and India. “HPIC was a huge help to me,” he said. “I am so excited about the work of HPIC and our potential to truly empower people on the ground through provision of medicines, supplies, training and development projects.”

The family physician, who is the Lead Physician at Primary Care Niagara, based in Niagara Falls and Welland, Ontario, brings not only medical expertise to the role but also much experience in investment banking and finance as well as running successful businesses in health care and real estate, both in Canada and the U.S. Dr. Singh views this special volunteer work with HPIC as a way of living out his Christian faith.

“With HPIC’s focused strategic plan for the coming years, we have unique and unprecedented open doors to serve along with Canadian and global partners in relief and development, to increase access to medicine and improve health in the developing world for everyone without discrimination,” Dr. Singh said.
